Why I’m Obsessed with Othership (and How You Can Try It with My Codes!)
I’m beyond excited to share that I’ve recently joined Othership as a Copilot—a role that came about after they reached out and invited me to experience their space. As someone who’s deeply passionate about sauna culture, it felt like the most natural collaboration in the world.
My husband and I travel the globe in search of unique, memorable sauna experiences—from fjord-side floating saunas in Oslo and Bodo to wellness havens in Montreal and beyond. So when a place like Othership in NYC offers that same level of care, ambiance, and quality right here at home, it’s something I want everyone to experience.
The space is spotless clean, stylish, and calm. It draws a respectful, upscale crowd, which helps maintain that peaceful, elevated energy. It’s never too busy, which makes it easy to actually enjoy the facilities. The cold plunge? Brutal in the best way. And after you’ve braved the plunge, there’s free, delicious tea waiting for you while you unwind in a space that smells divine.
Everything from the soft, high-quality towels to the incredibly kind and attentive staff makes you feel pampered and cared for. It’s the perfect reset button after a long day of work or stress—like the mood-lifting effect of a yoga class or gym session, but with far more chill (pun intended).
My only complaint? I wish the sessions were longer than 75 minutes—but that’s just because I’m sauna-obsessed and could easily spend 10 hours sweating and plunging if they’d let me.
How does Othership works?
Othership isn’t your typical spa or bathhouse. It’s more like a wellness gym—a space focused on contrast therapy, where the experience is intentionally curated and time-bound. Unlike a traditional spa where you can linger for hours, sip a smoothie, and float between amenities, at Othership, you book a 75-minute session. And in those 75 minutes, you get the chance to reset your nervous system, move energy through your body, and leave feeling completely refreshed.
You can choose between two types of experiences:
Free Flow – Use the amenities at your own pace. Move between the sauna and cold plunges however you like. Linger in the sauna, take multiple rounds, sip tea in between, or just listen to your body and do what feels right.
Guided Journeys – These are themed sessions led by a trained facilitator. Some examples include Arctic Tundra, Sound Immersion, Embody, Pure Presence, Unwind, and A-Z Emotions. They even offer DJ takeovers and social sessions—think of it like a sober wellness club night, where you're invited to connect, move, and vibe with others (no alcohol or substances, just natural highs and community vibes).
For introverts or those seeking quiet, there are also silent sessions where talking is not allowed and the capacity is lower—perfect if you're there to recharge solo.
Here's what I really like:
- Convenient location.
- Easy booking process.
- Beautiful, well designed, & clean facilities.
- Great merch (Specially the sauna hats)
- Friendly, welcoming, and helpful staff.
- Really cold (one person style) cold plunge. With a big timer right next to you, for you to easily track how long to stay.
- Wonderful scent in the space.
- Free delicious tea and cold water available.
- Gua sha tools available to use while in the sauna.
- A nice hot Finish sauna, with a brief aufguss every few minutes.
- Very nice, soft towels.
- A polite atmosphere, with an upscale crowd.
- Guided breathwork during sauna sessions.
- Sessions are never too busy, allowing for full enjoyment of the space.
- Great music selection.
- Fun Guided Sessions.
Some opportunities for improvement:
- Sessions are 75 minutes, perfect for people who just need to go in an out. Specially moms who need to squeeze in a moment for self-care in between a busy family & work schedule. However, a longer option of 120 minutes could be more appealing for those who prefer a little longer contrast therapy session.
- Water extractors for drying the bathing suits post sessions, would be much appreciated.
- I would personally enjoy a bigger locker space, although I understand and appreciate the efficiency in the design.
- Larger mirrors would be very helpful.

Bonus: These practices aren’t just feel-good. Contrast therapy (switching between hot and cold) helps stimulate circulation, improve mental clarity, and boost recovery. The sauna sessions also promote the production of heat shock proteins, which are linked to improved cellular function, reduced inflammation, and longevity.
So if you’ve been meaning to try something new, this is your sign!
