NYC Family, Newborn & Baby Shower Photographer
Quality is at the heart of everything I do, from the images I create to the service and care I provide.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me designing, practicing yoga, cooking for my family, at the sauna with my husband, exploring museums, or catching a film at Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg. I also love to travel and discover new places.
Paula Brearley
My name is Paula Brearley (formerly Paula Ortiz), and for more than 19 years, I’ve been photographing families throughout New York City. Photography is more than my profession—it’s an extension of who I am. I believe in keeping things simple, because real families are wonderfully imperfect and often a little chaotic. I’m drawn to unscripted moments: messy hair, imperfect outfits, shared laughter, and the quiet comfort of a hug. I don’t chase staged or picture-perfect images; instead, I focus on capturing your family exactly as you are—honest, connected, and full of love.

COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE
After 19 years behind the camera, my work has become a reflection of who I am. Each image is shaped by years of dedication, artistry, and a love for storytelling. I approach every photograph with care and passion, ensuring quality and authenticity are always at the forefront.
PHOTOGRAPHER TO THE STARS
I’ve had the honor of photographing high-profile clients—athletes, celebrities, prominent families, and industry leaders—earning a reputation for discretion and excellence, even in the most demanding situations.
ORGANIC STORYTELLING
Blending organic storytelling with artistry, my work captures the true essence of each subject. From candid moments to meaningful celebrations, my images are designed to transport you back and preserve the emotion of the moment for years to come.
YOUR FAMILY'S TIMELESS STORY
More than photography, my work is about capturing your family’s story—from life’s milestones to everyday moments—preserved in timeless images meant to be cherished for years.
My B-Side
I love yoga, movies, traveling, and exploring museums. I try to visit museums and catch a good film as often as I can—they’re endless sources of inspiration for me. Yoga keeps me grounded and balanced every week, while traveling feeds my curiosity. Most recently, my husband and I adventured to the Arctic Circle—an unforgettable experience!
I’m a Sociologist with a BA in Sociology and certifications in Product Design. In my spare time, I channel my creativity into designing apps and websites for startups.
I love the sauna and cold plunge—a passion my husband introduced me to. Some of our most memorable experiences have been at Balnea in Montreal, Pust in Bodø, and The Well in Oslo. Here in the city, we often visit Othership and Bathhouse, where we especially enjoy the aufguss, cold plunge, and banya rituals.
