Golden Hour & Autumn Leaves: A Tribeca Family Portrait Session


There is a fleeting, magical window in New York City when the industrial steel of Lower Manhattan meets the fiery oranges of autumn. As a Tribeca family photographer, I’ve learned that there is no better place to capture this than right here in our neighborhood’s waterfront parks.


Recently, I had the pleasure of documenting a beautiful fall afternoon with a local family—a wonderful couple, their energetic toddler boy, and their sweet little girl.


Why Tribeca is the Perfect Backdrop for Fall Photos


While many families head straight to Central Park, those of us who live and work in Downtown Manhattan know that Washington Market Park and Hudson River Park offer a unique, sophisticated charm.

For this session, we leaned into the classic Tribeca aesthetic:

The Light: The "Golden Hour" light reflecting off the Hudson River is unparalleled.

Capturing the Magic: Toddlers, Big Sisters, and Fall Leaves

Working with a toddler and a young daughter requires a mix of patience and play. We spent the afternoon chasing the "best" crunchy leaves and letting the kids be themselves.


As a photographer, my goal is always to move beyond the "everyone look at the camera and smile" pose. I want to capture the way your toddler grabs your hand for balance or the way your daughter’s eyes light up when she’s tossed into the air. These are the authentic moments that make NYC family photography so rewarding.
